This miniature is a faithful recreation of a movie theater I went to as a child in the 80s and 90s. It is based on a single photo I was able to find, as well as my memories. The show on the marquee represents one of my strongest memories of the place, the time my dad took me as a child to see the original Ninja Turtles movie, where we waited in line all day. The theater itself was built inside of a converted department store, giving it its strange design. This is the first in a series of miniatures based on my childhood in Kenosha, WI.
This miniature is crafted from plastics, paper, and paint. I found a single photo online of this now demolished theater. Using that and memory, I created architectural plans at 1:35 scale. I then built this miniature from those plans.
