I am always moved by the feeling confrontation can produce. A portrait for me is a pure opportunity for this type of engagement. I value most the real and natural moments we experience collectively as individuals; it is these unplanned entropic times that I believe we are at our most beautiful. And capturing that true, unequivocal personality of an individual is my aim in the pursuit of this art form that I love.
As a multi disciplined artist my attention is drawn to the diverse gamut of emotions a person is capable of evoking with just a glance from the viewer. I use this concept often when doing portraiture and design work. From fast and intimidating to vouyeristic and intimate, the range and degree of human feeling that can be communicated in a single piece of work inspires me. Uncovering these true moments keeps me curious and eager to connect with my subjects and the larger world around us.
