Jazz at the Trout presents Jack and Jill Jazz
November 21 6:30pm
Jack Grassel is one of this country’s most proficient (and prolific) jazz musicians, voted one of the “Ten Best Guitarists in the U.S.” by readers of Guitar One magazine. Singer Jill Jensen is his partner in marriage and music since 1998. Jack generates ‘sheets of sound’ while playing a triple-necked instrument he invented (guitar, bass, mandolin) and melodica, sounding like a full band to accompany Jill’s powerful vocal stylings. Jensen is an Olympic gymnast among jazz singers, leaping around phrases with breathtaking ease, soul and seduction while gliding through tricky melodies and complex chord changes with ease.
Their November concert brings an exciting blend of jazz-flavored music featuring several songs from their newest CD, Snow People, a collection of winter-themed songs reflecting the various moods of winter. Their work has been recognized by Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) awards, including Jazz Artists of the Year.
You will enjoy the loving telepathic interplay between them. Watch their video and get acquainted at www.jackandjilljazz.com.
Performance starts at 7:30 p.m., with opening performance at 6:30 p.m. by the Lawrence University Student Jazz Trio.
